This is a book to read slowly to allow the truths to settle in. It is so full of solid teaching, wisdom, and Biblical truths that each page has me nodding in agreement or feeling the sharp edge of conviction. Beautifully written with the intent to help women heal. Joyce shares from her own life and writes as though lives depend on it. Excellent. Solid.
Anyone who’s heard Joyce Meyer’s story knows she’s well-qualified to write a book on this subject. I love Meyer’s devotionals and “Battlefield of the Mind†should be required reading. I ordered “Healing the Soul of a Woman,†not because I have trauma in my past but because Meyer has a way of writing that is so real and relateable. Maybe because I don’t have specific trauma or deep emotional wounds, I found this book harder to get through than some of Meyer’s other works. The beginning of the book sets up the case for women, and their integral part of God’s plan for the world. There is a lot of statistical info about violence against women, sex trafficking, and gender inequality. Then it jumps to more practical aspects of emotional healing, forgiveness, and freedom.I think this is a timely book. It was written by someone who has experienced serious wounds who has come through her hurts and helped so many do the same. Joyce Meyer is so awesome because she is so brutally honest and seems so human. With everything she went through, I know I can overcome the hurts I’ve faced in life.

This book is one of Ms. Meyer's best if not the best, if you are needing emotional healing for a plethora of reasons. There are 23 chapters such as "God Wants The Wounded," "Hurting People Hurt People," "Unload The Guilt and Shame," and "You Are God's Beloved." She is able to draw wisdom from experiences of abuse in her childhood, that she has spent years receiving healing from God, herself, and shares very animatedly for the reader to glean understanding for herself or himself. Although written for women I could see men getting help from this book as well. She writes of ways you can become wounded such as infidelity, physical, emotional, and mental battery, divorce, rejection, betrayal, struggles with weight, victim of a crime, prejudice, death of a child or spouse, inability to have children, long-term illness and more. She stresses that any of these wounds can be healed and redeemed by God, given time with God through study of the Word, prayer, and worship. She goes on to assure us that God has a good plan for our lives, that we are daughters of the King with an inheritance He longs to give us. It is an easy read, very conversational, sharing, and scripture references. She backs up all she teaches with appropriate scripture. This is not only for Christians, anyone can get something from this book. I encourage you, if you are wounded in any way and are struggling this book can be a tool to help and guide you to feeling better...It's very encouraging, inspiring, and straight forward. I highly recommend it, it has changed my life!

Great read...God is good!
Im only about a third of the way into this book, but thats because it is so deep and profoundly touching, that it takes time to digest it. I cant say enough good things about this book! I am a new Christian who had seen Joyce on tv before and really liked her, so when I went looking for christian books I started with her and I have not been disappointed! The companion bible study is also wonderful!
Anyone who has difficulty forgiving people who have done cruel things to them in the past, forgiving themselves, honor the good things in life daily and have a relationship we it God.
