They are combined into one Kindle edition and make for very good reading about the game of chess from Nimzowitsch’s unique perspective.Aron Nimzowitsch (1886-1935) was one of the greatest chess players in the world during the 1920s and 1930s, ranking behind only world chess champions Jose Raul Capablanca and Alexander Alekhine. He is the most prominent founder of the hypermodern school of chess, which holds that pieces rather than pawns are most effective at gaining and holding control of the center of the chessboard. Nimzowitsch advocated using flanking attacks with pieces to gain advantage over the center. His Nimzo-Indian Defense is one of the more complex and effective modern chess openings.Nimzowitsch explains his theories in clear but sometimes rather dense prose. In “My System,†he discusses basic theories on center control, piece development, creating and exploiting open files, gaining control of the seventh rank, and various tactical maneuvers including the pin, discovered check, and pawn chains. In “Chess Praxis,†Nimzowitsch uses various games to illustrate and expand his theories on centralization, restraint and blockade, and other forms of what he terms “chess prophylaxis.â€I really enjoyed these two books, and I added a great deal to my ever-growing knowledge of chess. On occasion, he lapses into technical language that I find difficult to follow, but overall, he is easy to understand.As with most Kindle versions of chess books, I found the diagrams a bit small for my 60-plus year-old eyes. This may be the most important book you will ever read about chess. Honestly! Top to bottom, front to back, it is truly amazing in both its breadth and scope.The only drawback is the author writes in a very old style and can sometimes be hard to read. At other times this style can be truly entertaining.My number one favorite book on chess, no contest.
The only reason to buy a chess book is to learn to play better. This book helps you do that from page one. Remarkable.
No sectional headings, no page numbers, no chapters, no clear and coherent flow to the book. Very poor Kindle edition that is a chore to read. Not worth the $12 I paid for it.

I haven't had time to work through the whole book yet, so I will comment mostly on the binding (though I find the book so far to be a breath of fresh air, compared to some of the other translations I've read). Since I am notorious for mauling my books, as I use them, this binding has held up well for me, as compared to some of my chess books, who binding have fallen apart. Yes it does have some typos ( I am surprised), but readable for my purposes.
